Luther, Mary Lou
(c. 1940- )
   A graduate of the University of Nebraska, Luther is former fashion editor of the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, and Des Moines Register. She is the creative director for Fashion Group International, reporting on fashion and beauty trends twice-yearly. Luther is also the editor of the International Fashion Syndicate and writes the award-winning syndicated column Clotheslines, which is read weekly by five million readers. Her essays have appeared in The Rudi Gernreich Book, Thierry Mu-gler: Fashion, Fetish and Fantasy, The Oldham Without Borders, The Color of Fashion, and Yeohlee: Work. She has also published a book with the late Geoffrey Beene, Beene by Beene. Luther is the recipient of the Council of Fashion Designers of America lifetime achievement award for fashion journalism and each year an award for journalism is given in her name.
